Where the boats go

Map of Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh: Ton Sai Pier 7.1 km and Laem Thong Pier 11.5 km from Loh Samah Bay in a straight line, with Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Viking Cave on Phi Phi Leh
Ton Sai Pier on Phi Phi Don is 7.1 km from Loh Samah Bay on Phi Phi Leh in a straight line; Laem Thong Pier, in the north of Phi Phi Don, is 11.5 km. The dashed lines are straight lines across the map, not boat routes.

Maya Bay is on Phi Phi Leh, the smaller island south of Phi Phi Don, in Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. For the bay’s reopening in 2022, the national parks department set the boats to moor at a floating jetty in Loh Samah Bay, behind the beach, not in front of it (DNP, December 2021). Sawasdee Phi Phi’s longtail lands there, and a short walkway takes you across to the sand.

Every boat trip on this page starts on Phi Phi Don. Most meet at the McDonald’s next to Tonsai Pier; Discover Thailand's private longtail meets at The Coffee Club and Blue Flow’s at Blue Flow Travel. Laem Thong, at the island’s northern tip, has a pier too, but none of these trips starts there. Maya Bay from Ton Sai Pier covers getting to the pier and the crossing.

Stops in the order of the tour’s description (November 2026). It gives no time for each stop; the trip takes 4 hours from Ton Sai and back.

There are three departures: a sunrise boat at 6:30 AM, a morning boat at 9:00 AM and an afternoon and sunset boat at 2:00 PM. You check in 30 minutes before at the McDonald’s by Tonsai Pier. Maya Bay comes last in the description, so even the sunrise departure reaches the beach at the end of the trip, not first thing; for that, see the early speedboats below.

What the price buys

The US$17.90 on the card is lower than any option we saw. On 27 November 2026, 20 January and 10 March 2027 the sunrise, morning and afternoon boats all cost US$22.38 a person, for one adult or two (US$44.76 for two adults; checked November 2026).

That buys the longtail and its crew, a life jacket, snorkelling gear, drinking water and fruit. Food and drinks, hotel transfers and the national park ticket are not included. The park fee is 400 baht for a foreign adult (the national parks department’s schedule of June 2023, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand) and 200 baht for a child (the Tourism Authority of Thailand), checked November 2026. Since October 2025 the Phi Phi park has used electronic tickets, and the tourism authority asks visitors to have their passport ready. The Maya Bay park fee lists which tours include it.

Getting there first, by speedboat or on your own boat

Sawasdee Phi Phi's first group at Maya Bay meets at 6:00 AM and boards between 6:15 and 6:30 AM, with Maya Bay as its first stop for an hour; it is from US$29.27 (checked November 2026), and the half day cost US$32.52 a person on our January and March dates. Oh-Hoo's sunrise speedboat reaches Maya Bay after a 30-minute ride and stays an hour, with the park fee in the price. The first boat to Maya Bay compares the early starts.

Later in the day, Master Phi Phi Tour's sunset and plankton trip leaves Ton Sai Pier at 2:00 PM, spends an hour at Maya Bay and ends with a night snorkel among bioluminescent plankton, from US$40.28, park fee included. For a boat to yourselves, Blue Flow's private longtail cost US$67.13 a person for two people on 20 January 2027 for 4 hours, the park fee extra (checked November 2026).

Phi Phi Local Tour's early day on Viator meets at 6:00 AM in front of the McDonald’s next to Tonsai pier and runs 8.5 hours with lunch and the park fees included, from US$71.88 a person, its one option (checked November 2026).

What reviewers mention

Sawasdee Phi Phi’s longtail has 659 reviews on GetYourGuide. We read the 350 most recent, dated 4 May to 8 November 2026: 36 give three stars or fewer, and 17 of those have a comment.

The park fee comes up most. At least three reviews between June and September 2026 say they were asked for 400 baht at Maya Bay or at the meeting point, and one group in July 2026 did not go ashore at Maya Bay because they had no cash with them. Other low reviews describe boats following each other to the same spots and a busy beach (July and November 2026), two people stung by jellyfish while snorkelling (June 2026), and August trips that could not land at Maya Bay during the closure.

Before you book

  • Cash for the park fee. The longtail leaves it out of the price, so carry 400 baht for each adult.
  • Who it suits. The longtail is not for children under 4, pregnant women or people prone to seasickness.
  • Getting to the pier. There is no hotel pickup. If you are not staying near Ton Sai, arrange a longtail to Ton Sai Pier early in the morning.
  • No swimming at Maya Bay. Thailand’s Department of National Parks forbids it and warns of fines up to 100,000 baht (DNP news, 4 August 2026). You swim at Pileh Lagoon instead.
  • The closure. The Department of National Parks announces the closure each year; the 2026 closure ran 1 August to 30 September, and Maya Bay reopened on 1 October 2026. Is Maya Bay open? has the dates and where to check.
  • Cancelling. Every GetYourGuide tour on this page can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before.
