Maya Bay from Ton Sai Pier

Where the Maya Bay boats meet on Phi Phi Don, how to reach Ton Sai Pier if you stay elsewhere, how far the crossing is, and how long it takes (November 2026).

Updated November 2026

Boats to Maya Bay from Phi Phi Don leave from Ton Sai, the island’s main pier, and most meet at the McDonald’s next to Tonsai Pier. Loh Samah Bay, where they land for Maya Bay, is 7.1 km away in a straight line: about 30 minutes by speedboat on Oh-Hoo's sunrise trip. None of the tours collects you from your hotel, so work out how you will reach the pier before you book.

Meeting points checked November 2026. Your booking confirmation has the exact spot and time.

For the longtail, check in 30 minutes before your boat: at 6:00 AM for the 6:30 sunrise departure, 8:30 AM for the 9:00 one, 1:30 PM for the 2:00 PM one.

If you are not staying in Ton Sai

There is no pickup. Both Sawasdee Phi Phi tours leave from Ton Sai Beach Pier, and if you are staying elsewhere on Phi Phi Don you need to arrange a longtail to Ton Sai Pier early in the morning.

On the 6:00 AM trips that matters. One reviewer of the first-group boat in May 2026 left the hotel at 5:00 AM and walked along the beach and through the bush in the dark to reach the pier by 5:45, 15 minutes early, as their booking message had advised.

Laem Thong, at the northern tip of Phi Phi Don, has a pier too. It is 11.5 km from Loh Samah Bay in a straight line, but none of the trips on this site starts there; if you are staying up there, you come down to Ton Sai first.

Day-trippers from Phuket or Krabi are not the audience for these tours. Discover Thailand's speedboat expects you to stay on Phi Phi the night before, and Master Phi Phi Tour's sunset trip the night after: transfers to and from the island are too limited to fit either into a day from Phuket or Krabi.

Straight-line distances from the map’s coordinates. Boats follow the coast, so the water route is longer.

Oh-Hoo's sunrise speedboat takes 30 minutes from Ton Sai Pier to Maya Bay, after a 15-minute safety briefing on the pier. A longtail is slower. Sawasdee Phi Phi’s half day by longtail takes 4 hours there and back, with Monkey Beach, Viking Cave and Pileh Lagoon on the way and Maya Bay last.

At the other end the boats tie up at a floating jetty in Loh Samah Bay, behind Maya Bay’s beach, the mooring the national parks department set for the bay’s reopening (DNP, December 2021). From there a short walkway leads to the sand.

If you are staying in Ton Sai, the longtail half day is the simplest way over: you walk to the pier, and the boat brings you back to it about four hours later.
